Local and national travel for academic enrichment, college visits and squash competition
Tournaments in Houston
Houston squash clubs typically host up to 5 US Squash sanctioned tournaments each year. These clubs include Lifetime Fitness City Center, and The Downtown Club at the Met.
Tournaments bring together the best junior players from Houston and occasionally attract players from the North East and other areas in the US. The tournaments provide a great opportunity for Mission Squash scholars to match up against players of the same age in Houston. Mission Squash has enjoyed recent successes in local tournaments with winners in multiple age categories. All Mission Squash scholars participating in tournaments are provided with full equipment, preparation and support during tournaments. Mission Squash also supports its families by fundraising to cover tournament entry fees and membership to US Squash, which is mandatory for entry into Silver and Gold level tournaments.

Houston Junior Squash League
In March 2017, after the success of the first ever inter-school and inter-club team matches in Houston hosted by Mission Squash, we partnered with the Houston Squash Rackets Association to create the Houston Junior Squash League. The aim of the league is to provide more opportunities for junior players of all abilities to gain competitive matchplay experience in a team environment. The league is currently comprised of four teams: Mission Squash, Lifetime Fitness, The Downtown Club @ the Met and Trafton School. Each team plays all the other teams twice each year, home and away, and there is an end of season finale in December.
Urban Team Nationals & Urban Individual National Championships
The National Urban Squash and Education Association (NUSEA) hold two major events each year which bring together Urban Squash programs from all over the US and beyond. The two tournaments that Mission Squash participate in are called the Urban Team Nationals (UTN) and Urban Individual Nationals (UIN). The events are typically held on the North East coast, rotating between a number of collegiate and private venues including The University Club New York, Harvard University, Williams College, Amherst College, Drexel University and the Racket Club of Philadelphia, with the last tournaments being held in Boston and Philadelphia. The tournaments provide an eye-opening new experience for scholars who may have never travelled by plane, left the state, or stayed away from family before.
In years to come, Mission Squash hope to take more players to both events and bring home trophies!
Donate to our Urban National Travel Fund to enable more of our students to compete and take part in these life-changing experiences.
Mission Squash is grateful to Novum Energy for sponsoring five scholars (one team) to the 2018 Urban Team Championships.
